Webinar: Music Theory – The Beginners Guide

A gentle introduction to understanding notation and music theory.

This webinar will support those wanting to start to understand the written language of music. We will start at the beginning with clear explanations, practical activities and opportunities to ask questions.

Webinar: Charanga and Mixed Year Groups

Mixed-age groups are commonplace in schools but can present some planning and teaching challenges. We’ll look at a range of options for adapting the schemes to suit a variety of different scenarios.

Webinar: You Can! Improvise with 7-11 Year Olds Part 1

Improvising, often called ‘making it up as you go along’, is a fantastic way to explore music from within. This webinar featuring Step 3 of the units for 7-11 year olds, will focus on ideas to develop and improve skills, giving attention to the musical setting.

Webinar: You Can! Improvise with 7-11 Year Olds Part 2

Using examples to illustrate short phrases we’ll discuss how we know that progress is made and learning deepened. This session builds on You Can! Improvise with 7-11 Year Olds so you will find it useful to have watched that webinar beforehand.

Webinar: Planning and Progression with the Original Scheme

Making sense of progression and planning for the Original Scheme.

Lesson planning is different for each school and relies upon a secure knowledge of progression, a key feature of the Scheme: Scope & Sequence. We’ll look at progression throughout the school year and across the age range, to show how it could be unpacked and used to support planning at all levels from the year group down to individual lessons.

Webinar: Music For Everyone

High-level overview of resources available for students with a range of additional needs.

This webinar is ideal for teachers working in mainstream or special units/schools looking for resources to engage every student in fun and relevant music-making. We will explore the Anyone Can Play Scheme, special needs Freestyle – a collection of most-used resources in this context – and CREATE iPad projects allowing time for reflection and discussion.
