“Whatever your age group, ability or nationality, The Point welcomes everyone.” – Stronger Communities Officer

The Point is a Centre of Excellence for Creative Health and Learning.

The Point is open to everyone.

Whether to meet a friend in the café or to access one of the many workshops or events; we aim to surprise, incite curiosity, gently challenge and enable people to shine.

We opened The Point in May 1998. The award-winning restoration successfully combines Georgian townhouses with modern architecture. In 2007, we had the opportunity to expand into the building next door and created a beautiful, double height contemporary gallery space. The building is always bursting with people, activity, inspiration and creativity, but can also provide the perfect quiet space to read a book or get some work done with a cup of tea.

Our journey began in 1990…

darts – the charity that owns and runs The Point – started as a small project, initiated with funding from Doncaster Council and Yorkshire Arts.

Our early days were spent tucked away on the first floor of Bentley Library. A dancer and a trainee administrator began work, bringing artists to schools, surgeries, community centres, care homes and venues across the borough.

Soon, a folk music/arts worker, clerical support and trainee administrator joined the team and darts, The Point’s registered charity, was born.

We quickly grew, becoming an independent organisation with a bigger staff team but retaining our focus on Doncaster and its people.

darts became a registered charity and company limited by guarantee in 1996 and then took on the incredible opportunity of purchasing a building of our own in 1997 with the help of National Lottery and European Regional Development Funds.

The Point

Our building, The Point, opened in May 1998. The award-winning restoration successfully combines Georgian townhouses with modern architecture.

Since then, the building has been filled with all manner of creative activity and Doncaster people.

Capital improvements

In 2007, we had the opportunity to expand into the building next door and created a beautiful, double height contemporary space.

In 2025, a significant decarbonisation programme took place, transforming the building and creating a whole range of flexible spaces available for hire. Events, conferences, meetings, office space – your needs will be met at The Point. We have a wonderful cafe and catering offer too.

The Point is open to all. We welcome organisations, businesses, artists or solo workers to base themselves at The Point alongside darts. The building is a thriving hub of passionate people working hard to deliver fantastic and transformational activity for the people of Doncaster.
