The Pollinators

A new interactive sensory exhibition celebrating pollinating insects

A collections of brightly coloured miniature trees made of paper. Part of an installation by visual artist Bethan Maddocks.

3 May – 21 June 2024

The Pollinators is a new family-friendly sensory exhibition by visual artist Bethan Maddocks, celebrating pollinating insects and ancient folk traditions around bee-keeping.

Inspired by the tiny pollinators who help produce our food and flowers, from the honey bee to moths, wasps and beetles, the work will explore the meaning of pollination – sharing, transferring knowledge, play and reflection.

In a series of interactive installations visitors of all ages will be encouraged to engage their senses through soundscapes, light and shadow installations, hands-on activities and a making space.

The Pollinators will be exhibited at The Point from 3 May – 21 June 2024.

A sculpture presented in a dimly lit room projects shadows of birds, clouds, insects and flowers onto the wall behind it. Noctalgia by Bethan Maddocks photographed by Bec Hughes.

Our Gallery is at the heart of the building and inspires children, families and adults to be creative – whether you are visiting independently or are taking part in the many activities that happen within the Gallery space. Click here for opening times.

All exhibitions are open to the public, but we do sometimes close the space for events, or you may visit at a time when creative activity is taking place so the space might be noisier than you expect!

Please do phone 01302 341662 before visiting to check what’s on – especially if you are travelling in to Doncaster.
