Georgia O’Keeffe: Memories of Drawings
A Hayward Gallery Touring Exhibition from The Southbank Centre, London
15 January – 19 March 2022
Georgia O’Keeffe: Memories of Drawings is a brand new Hayward Gallery Touring exhibition presenting a remarkable collection of work from the pioneering American artist, Georgia O’Keeffe. Doncaster is only the second venue to host this new exhibition before it embarks on a UK tour.
This new exhibition will showcase 21 photogravures of drawings produced by the artist between 1915-1963; the period in which O’Keeffe established herself as a major figure in American Modernism. Renowned for her distinctive balance of abstraction with figuration and tenaciously pursuing her innovative style, Georgia O’Keeffe (1887-1986) is one of the most important artists in 20th century American art. Her iconic works of organic forms, surreal abstractions, rural landscapes, urban cityscapes and organic forms – including flowers and bones – broke new ground for women artists.
The Point is open to the public so everyone is welcome to visit the exhibition. Find the opening times here.
Teachers are invited to bring their classes to visit the exhibition and can book in for a self-facilitated visit (free) or an artist-led workshop at the subsidised cost of £100. The workshop will link to the primary curriculum and is an excellent opportunity for children to experience art work first hand in a friendly and accessible town centre building. If you are a teacher in the Doncaster borough and would like to bring your class for a visit and access our resources, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01302 341662.
